Mumbai street food specialties

Spicy tea, potato dumplings or grilled chicken Tikka are dishes you should try if you come to Mumbai, a city that represents Indian street food.

Masala Dosa is the most popular breakfast dish in Mumbai. Dosa consists of a mixture of fermented rice flour mixed with mashed black lentils. When cooking, the chef scoops a thin spoon of dough onto the cast iron pan, coats it with potatoes and onions, then rolls it up. People often cut the cake roll into small pieces to enjoy.

This drink originated 5,000 years ago in India. First, milk is cooked in a large pot and mixed with sugar and water. Then, the chef puts the tea into the pot of milk and stirs well. Masala means “spicy”. To create Masala flavor, a lot of crushed ginger is dropped into the tea.

Chai Masala is both sweet, fragrant, and spicy. Indians prefer tea to coffee and spicy tea is the most popular street drink in Mumbai.

This is a sandwich filled with mashed potatoes mixed with Indian spices. Vada Pav is considered a type of Indian fast food or hamburger.

Vada Pav was once only for the poor, but over time it became popular everywhere, especially loved by vegetarians.

Tikka means “cut”. The chicken is cut into small pieces, removed from the bones and marinated in the sauce in the refrigerator for about 6 hours before grilling. The sauce is made from many secret spices that only chefs know, including green sauce, red sauce, white sauce…

Pani Puri is the name of a unique dessert. Hollow round cakes, stuffed with mashed potatoes and peas inside, fried crispy and golden brown. The chef dips the cake in sweet and sour tamarind sauce and serves it to diners.

The above is just a small part representing Mumbai street food. The city of more than 18 million people has up to 500,000 restaurants and tens of thousands of types of food and drinks, making it an attractive stop for tourists who love to explore cuisine.
